If you tried to send a large file — over 20 MB — via Apple Mail through your gmail account, you probably failed and ended up with a synchronization problem. It is likely that a huge cached file is still sitting in your Library. For a quick cure, see here.

The Right Way to Set Up IMAP with Gmail and Mail.app in Leopard
I have used Mail in Leopard, using IMAP, to fetch e-mails in my Gmail account. Now, when I deleted a message in Mail, Gmail would simply “archive” it and not put it in the trash box. I always wondered if there is a way fix this and have the message put in to the trash when I delete it from Mail. I have finally found a very satisfying answer. This article has all the background information one can possibly ask, and also a step-by-step instruction to set up Mail and Gmail settings; so have a look: “Achieving Email Bliss with IMAP, Gmail, and Apple Mail“ (Another article that is worth browsing is “Configuring IMAP for Gmail, Mail.app, and iPhone (and iPod touch)“. The instructions are almost the same.)
Mac Issues (Freezing After Sleep, RSS)
Recently my MacBook started to “freeze” (with the “spinning wheel of death”) when I tried to log on after it went to sleep, or even when I tried to shut it down. After some investigation (involving painful modifications) I realized it was Spotlight issue; Spotlight stalled at some point and could not finish indexing.
The cause: For my case, I found that there were several big but corrupt files. After deleting them, I am not encountering any of the previous issues at all.
Meanwhile, during the “investigation” I mentioned earlier, I made myself a new account. So I was trying to move my RSS subscription in Mail to my new account, but I couldn’t find any “Export” menu. Well, a solution for this is to just copy the RSS folder in the Library.
